Howard University Law Students

First-year grades are important -- very important. Your 1L grades at Howard University School of Law will not only determine your eligibility for law review and other honors, but will dictate what job opportunities are available when you graduate. This is because the most selective legal employers recruit law students at the beginning of their second year, and they often will only interview law students who finished at the top of their 1L class. Given the staggering cost of a legal education, and a highly competitive legal hiring market, adopting a trial-and-error approach as a 1L is a flawed strategy. Learn why preparing for the challenges you will face during your first year of law school can help protect the substantial investment you are about to make in your legal education.

What Howard University School of Law Students Say

More than 99% of our surveyed customers have said Law Preview met or exceeded their expectations:

At Howard, we do not know our class rank until the end of the year. However, I have received my first semester grades. I got 2 As and a B. Thus, I have an A average!! Law Preview should be required of all law students entering their first year of law school. Why it is not, I have no idea. I simply cannot imagine what I would have done without the formidable introduction to law school and support that Law Preview has given me. I think that law school is difficult even if you have the benefits of an introduction such as Law Preview. I have a pretty non-traditional background for a law student and future lawyer. I spent most of my life as a performing artist (actress and singer). Thus, I was really worried that I would be at a disadvantage in my first year. But Law Preview gave me the confidence and tools to be successful. My grades are evidence of that. Moreover, I would like to commend your ability to bring such an impressive roster of instructors to the program. I particularly enjoyed my Torts professor from Yale. He was marvelous. He left me with such a deep impression of the importance of keeping my moral compass in order as I navigate this profession. Thank You!!!

On the first day of law school classes, I felt completely prepared for the experience. I was already ahead of most of my class in knowing how to brief a case, create an outline, and take lecture notes that would help me prepare for exams. I also had a unique understanding of the subject material in my first year classes due to the fantastic road map provided by each of my Law Preview professors. I'm currently ranked #1 out of 320 students and I don't think I would be having nearly the academic success that I'm having today without the solid grounding that Law Preview provided. I can't say enough good things about my Law Preview experience -- it was worth every dime and a whole lot more. It may be the best kept secret for how to prepare and succeed in law school!
