First-year grades are important -- very important. Your 1L grades at New York Law School will not only determine your eligibility for law review and other honors, but will dictate what job opportunities are available when you graduate. This is because the most selective legal employers recruit law students at the beginning of their second year, and they often will only interview law students who finished at the top of their 1L class. Given the staggering cost of a legal education, and a highly competitive legal hiring market, adopting a trial-and-error approach as a 1L is a flawed strategy. Learn why preparing for the challenges you will face during your first year of law school can help protect the substantial investment you are about to make in your legal education.

What NYLS Students Say

More than 99% of our surveyed customers have said Law Preview met or exceeded their expectations:

I am unaware of my rank but I received a 3.78 this semester!!!! Law Preview was AMAZING...I don't think I would have been nearly as prepared for the challenges that I was going to face without this course (as well as another prep course that my law school offered). I would recommend Law Preview to each and every person entering law school! The best $1300 I've ever spent.

I had been out of school for 15 years, so LP gave me a good look at what I would be facing as well as techniques for studying and keeping up that I had lost since being out of school. The classes gave me an understanding of each course as whole, which helped a great deal in keeping a big picture in mind once I started law school. I managed to keep my head above the minutae, which is very easy to get lost in. The professors I was lucky enough to get at my LP week were phenomenal and it was so great to be introduced to the law by people who clearly loved what they did. It was not easy. It was one of the most intellectually challenging experiences I've ever had, but it made my entry into law school almost seamless and even as I am entering my 2nd semester, I am ever grateful I took it.

Law Preview helped me feel comfortable going into school. I knew the tasks that were ahead of me and how best to handle them. I understood how to brief, how to organize a study schedule, and some of the basic premises of core courses that allowed me to be able to focus my studying and class preparation more efficiently. Furthermore, Law Preview simply provides students with confidence which, especially during the first semester, is lacking because no feedback is received (except in Legal Writing) until January. I do not know my current class rank because my school does not rank after the first semester, but I finished with a 3.69 and Law Preview played a large role in my first semester success.

Law preview was a great head start for acclimating to the daily assignments and in particular briefing cases. I also found the handouts useful during the semester as I tried to stay organized and prepare for exams. . . . I had to take a week off from work to attend Law Preview so the cost to attend in my case was far more than the tuition. This begs the questions, was it worth it? The answer is, "yes, absolutely." I would take the Law Preview Course if I had to do it over again and I would recommend it to other students preparing to enter law school.
