SMU Law Students

First-year grades are important -- very important. Your 1L grades at SMU's Dedman School of Law will not only determine your eligibility for law review and other honors, but will dictate what job opportunities are available when you graduate. This is because the most selective legal employers recruit law students at the beginning of their second year, and they often will only interview law students who finished at the top of their 1L class. Given the staggering cost of a legal education, and a highly competitive legal hiring market, adopting a trial-and-error approach as a 1L is a flawed strategy. Learn why preparing for the challenges you will face during your first year of law school can help protect the substantial investment you are about to make in your legal education.

More than 99% of our surveyed customers have said Law Preview met or exceeded their expectations:

Don, I just wanted to write to you and reaffirm what I have always believed--Law Preview works! I recommend the program to any law-school candidate who is serious about succeeding in law school. I enrolled in the Summer '02 course in Ft. Worth and couldn't be happier with the results. I was in the top 10% of my first year class at SMU and was selected for Law Review. After a successful first year at SMU, I transferred to UT law where I have continued to enjoy success. I have recently accepted a full-time position with Baker Botts . . . Thanks again!

(transferred to University of Texas School of Law)

Class ranking has not been released but based on ranking of the graduating class I should be at or near the top 10%. Law Preview helped my law school experience by preparing me for the year through an understanding of how to brief cases and what needed to be done on a continuing basis to stay ahead of the class and succeed in school. This gave me a large headstart over my competition and greatly reduced my stress level as I began law school.
