University of Iowa Law Students

First-year grades are important -- very important. Your 1L grades at The University of Iowa College of Law will not only determine your eligibility for law review and other honors, but will dictate what job opportunities are available when you graduate. This is because the most selective legal employers recruit law students at the beginning of their second year, and they often will only interview law students who finished at the top of their 1L class. Given the staggering cost of a legal education, and a highly competitive legal hiring market, adopting a trial-and-error approach as a 1L is a flawed strategy. Learn why preparing for the challenges you will face during your first year of law school can help protect the substantial investment you are about to make in your legal education.

What University of Iowa College of Law Students Say

More than 99% of our surveyed customers have said Law Preview met or exceeded their expectations:

Law Preview gave me an excellent base to build upon throughout the year. I believe I had somewhat of a head start on my classmates in terms of familiarity with the main subject material. Although I did not always brief my cases or strictly adhere to the study suggestions, I did use Law Preview's methods to outline and prepare for and write exams. Law Preview was certainly a beneficial experience. [Ranked #1 out of 211].

I was a Law Preview student at your second Loyola session last year. I ended up going to the University of Iowa Law School (Boyd Hall), and the first semester has gone exceptionally well. So, thank you for setting up such a helpful program. The people at the law school are extraordinarily bright, and after exams, I thought I was doomed. Yet I managed to scrape by with a 3.85, and was the number one scorer in both Legal Writing and Contracts; I was the tied as the number three scorer in Torts, and the number 12 scorer (out of 90) in Property (A-). I could not have asked for much better last semester, though I'm keeping nose to the grindstone and continuing to follow your 'plan' for this semester.

Law Preview gave me confidence and a sense of what to expect. Though I didn't follow Don's advice to study 12 hours a day, I did consider that other students might study that much and that pushed me to study more. Also, I think Law Preview helped me study smarter and not waste my time doing things that probably aren't too helpful.
