University of Houston Law Students

First-year grades are important -- very important. Your 1L grades at University of Houston Law Center will not only determine your eligibility for law review and other honors, but will dictate what job opportunities are available when you graduate. This is because the most selective legal employers recruit law students at the beginning of their second year, and they often will only interview law students who finished at the top of their 1L class. Given the staggering cost of a legal education, and a highly competitive legal hiring market, adopting a trial-and-error approach as a 1L is a flawed strategy. Learn why preparing for the challenges you will face during your first year of law school can help protect the substantial investment you are about to make in your legal education.

More than 99% of our surveyed customers have said Law Preview met or exceeded their expectations:

I attended the Law Preview session in Austin. I was just writing to let you know how I did the first semester. I attend the University of Houston Law Center, and I received all A's my first semester and am ranked #1 out of 266 students. Law Preview gave me the right mindset entering into law school, and I feel the class was a big part of my success. Not only did it help me succeed grades wise, but the class also gave me a sense of excitement to attend U of H, as there were 3 professors from the school who lectured at Law Preview, and I enjoyed all three!

The best thing I got out of Law Preview was the practical advice. Part of being successful in any situation is strategy - learning how to maneuver within the circumstances. Law Preview was a great strategy resource. Law School is a foreign world, and knowing what to expect before you ever get there is a huge asset. Most people are totally baffled and have no idea what to do, but I felt a little more confident and had a game plan when I went in. I also really appreciated having some idea of how to approach my exams during the first semester. I got A's in all my substantive classes, including the high grade in Contracts that was 15% above the second highest score. Thanks for everything! [Ranked #5 out of 266 after first semester].

I followed the Law Preview plan exactly: briefed every single case, did all reading on schedule, reviewed with flashcards, made my own outlines... and there were no surprises. I was prepared for everything. The biggest plus is that Law Preview helped me start ahead of the pack. Taking the course the summer before school really prepared me mentally as well, so I understood the challenges I was facing but also had the confidence in the skill set I'd developed over the summer to get the job done and stay focused on my goals. The schedule Law Preview provided helped me stay on track, and I also appreciated that Law Preview didn't leave me hanging during the semester. They promptly responded to every question I emailed, and I there's nothing better than candid advice. Now I'm in the top 2% of my class, and I have confidence that I can continue to excel. . . . Thanks so much and I'm making sure my younger brother (who will start law school Fall '09) will be registering for your course soon as well! Now it's just doing it all over again second semester, but I know I have the skills to repeat the process thanks to Law Preview!

Law Preview did three very important things for me: (1) It made me understand to value my time like it was gold, and how to organize my studies for maximum effect; (2) It helped me determine how to be prepared from Day 1 of law school. I did not waste valuable time during my first few weeks of law school figuring out what I needed to do; and (3) It demystified law school exams and taught me how to proactively prepare for exams, and how to get the information I needed to do well on them. [Ranked top 15% after first year].
