COURSE MATERIALS & ASSIGNMENTS FAQs

When should I expect to receive the Law Preview course materials?

We ship our course materials by US MEDIA MAIL so they arrive at least 2-3 weeks before your session's start date. All students who sign up for the Legal Research and Writing Workshop can pick up those books on Saturday morning.

If I sign up late, can I have my course materials overnighted to me?
For students who sign up at the last minute, we are happy to FedEx your books for an additional charge. If you register as late as Friday before the class, FedEx can deliver your book on Saturday at most locations. We will also have a few extra books on hand at the session for those students who register on the Saturday or Sunday before the session begins we can try to arrange to meet these students on Sunday afternoons at the host school to make sure they receive their books.

How seriously should I take the reading assignments?
Pretty seriously. We recommend that you read through Tuesday before you arrive. We cover a lot of material during the week and the professors are going to expect you to have read in advance. If you need the reading assignments for your class, you can download them by logging into your account.

Do I really need to brief all my cases?
Yes. Using the format outlined in the Case-Briefing chapter of our book, attempt to brief the cases for the first two days. We will review the case-briefing process on the first day and you will receive model briefs throughout the week that you can compare to yours and gauge your progress.

Where can I download my reading assignments, schedule, or directions to the law school?
After course materials have been mailed, you can download all the information you need to prepare for Law Preview by going to the following URL: www.lawpreview.com/information.

Is there homework?
Yes. There is about 35-40 pages of reading per class which generally takes students about 3-1/2 hours to complete. Once again, we recommend that you read ahead through Tuesday on the syllabus so you do not find yourself overwhelmed with work during the week.
