GENERAL FAQs

When are the classes held?
Generally, classes run Monday - Friday from 7:45AM to 5:00PM; our Saturday classes usually start at 9:00AM and end at 6:00PM. For the exact times of your Law Preview session, you can download a course schedule by logging into your account.

What is the difference between the three programs you offer?
During the summer we offer a three different program types: our 1-day Legal Research & Writing Workshop, our 5-day Law School Prep Course and the 6-day Complete Law Preview Course.

The 1-Day Legal Research & Writing Workshop is held on the last day (Saturday) of each session. This program covers techniques for effective legal writing, proper citation of legal authority, drafting legal memoranda, analyzing legal authority, and strategies for legal research.

The 5-Day Law School Prep Course is held Monday - Friday of each session. This class is designed to provide you with a roadmap for each of the core first-year classes. Before you enter law school you will learn the historical implications that gave rise to certain areas of law, and the fundamental doctrines, themes and policies seen over and over in each first-year class. This roadmap is critical to your success since, as the year progresses, you will have a conceptual framework in which to develop your understanding of the law. The 5-day program also teaches students proven academic success tactics. The Founders of Law Preview all experienced tremendous success throughout their law school school careers. They will share the secrets that allowed them to finish at the top of their law school classes and gain employment at some of the country's most prestigious law firms and courts.

The 6-Day Complete Law Preview Course runs Monday - Friday during each session and is simply a combination of the 5-day and 1-day programs. Students who register for the 6-day class save $100 off the combined price of both programs.

If I sign up for a class and can't make it, what's the refund policy?

Law Preview's refund policy is as follows: 100% of fees paid (less a non-refundable, seat reservation charge) shall be refundable upon written notification received by Law Preview prior to the program start date; thereafter, no refunds will be made. The seat reservation charge for any 5- or 6-day Law Preview program is $400; the seat reservation charge for any 1-day Law Preview program is $75.

If I end up on the wait list, what are my options?
Often, some of our most popular locations sell out by mid-June. If this is the case, the online registration system will not allow you to reserve a seat; however, you can call us directly and get placed on a waiting list for the session you desire. If a space does not become available, all fees paid (including the deposit) shall be refunded.

I work during the day. Do you offer any night programs?
Unfortunately, at the present time we only offer daytime classes.

Does Law Preview offer a winter program for students who will begin law school in January?
Unfortunately, at the present time we only offer programs during the summer.

What is the dress code?
Come as casual as you like. T-shirts, sandals and shorts are fine; however, we do recommend that you bring a sweatshirt or light jacket with you since many of the schools that host Law Preview keep their facilities pretty cool during the summer months.

Do I need to bring a laptop?
If you have a laptop, feel free to bring it with you, but do not feel compelled to. Although most students type faster than they can write, there are still plenty of students who take notes the old-fashioned way, by pen.

Can I record the classes to listen to at a later time?
Because of obvious copyright issues, we do not allow students to record Law Preview lectures.

I am visually or hearing impaired. Will Law Preview make reasonable accommodations?
Absolutely. For students who are visually impaired, we make our written materials available in a digital format that might make them easier to read. For students who are hearing impaired, we will provide transcription services during one session each summer in a designated city. Based on the level of interest, we will try to find a city that is convenient for the most people in need of this accommodation. Email us before May 1st to learn more about our accommodations for the hearing impaired.

Hey! I thought I was supposed to get free study aids from Aspen Publishers - where are they?
The free study aids supplied by Aspen Publishers are shipped directly to each course location. We usually distribute these study aids on Tuesday afternoon.

When can I take advantage of the LawBooksForLess.com discount?
As soon as you sign up. Once you're a Law Preview student, register for a LawBooksForLess.com account and the system will prompt you to identify yourself as a Law Preview student. Once you do this, you'll automatically receive the 5% discount on all purchases made before December 31, 2007.

Are there regular breaks?
The professors generally break about once an hour to give students a chance to stretch their legs or grab a cup of coffee. Additionally, there is a one-hour lunch break each day to allow students to visit restaurants and delis on or around campus.
