About Matt's Career

Matt, a Louisiana native, attended Law Preview in 2005 before starting his 1L year at the University of Oklahoma School of Law where he finished in the top 3% of his first year class. Matt's 1L performance allowed him to transfer to The George Washington University School of Law where he completed an internship at the think tank Third Way, got some political experience as the President of the National Democratic Law Students Council, and had a special policy report published in State Tax Notes.

After graduating from GWU Law in 2008, Matt worked as a Legislative Assistant to United States Senator Mary Landrieu, managing the Senator's military, veterans, & foreign affairs portfolio, including appropriations & state defense funding priorities. He later became Senator Landrieu's State Military Liaison, overseeing military and veterans outreach operations statewide and serving as the primary liaison for military installations.

In 2010, Matt left Washington, DC and returned to Louisiana where he continues to be involved in politics, policy, and leadership development. He currently serves in the Office of Mayor Cedric B. Glover, Mayor of Shreveport, as the Economic Development Coordinator. Matt is also a board member of both Louisiana Progress and the Louisiana Progress Action Fund, two independent, not-for-profit endeavors advancing progressive state policy solutions. He co-founded and continues to lead the statewide chapter of New Leaders Council which promotes the development of a new generation of political entrepreneurs.
