About Val's Legal Career
Val graduated, magna cum laude, from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University where he received the George W. Woodruff Award of Excellence after graduating first in his class. While in law school, Val also served as Articles Editor of the Mercer Law Review.Now Val is an associate in King & Spalding's Atlanta office and a member of the firm's Tort & Environmental Law Practice Group. He focuses his practice on the defense of manufacturers in product liability lawsuits and other mass tort actions. Val has been a member of trial teams defending suits in West Virginia and Florida. He has also worked on several appellate matters.
It was very helpful to know in advance what means of study would work and which alternative methods have less chance of succeeding. A lot of classmates had to try the other avenues for themselves (to their detriment) - while I had someone give me the recipe ahead of time. The key skill-set we learned at Law Preview was setting a work schedule that was demanding yet realistic at the same time. Many of my peers simply got lost in the overwhelming workload. Also, Don framed the bigger picture of law school and the entry into the legal profession. That was motivating on the one hand while it also served as warning.
