The importance of students’ first-year grades cannot be overstated. In today’s competitive legal hiring market, top 1L grades often mean the difference between getting recruited for a job and searching for one. As a recognized leader in the effort to promote a more diverse legal profession, Kirkland & Ellis is heavily invested in the diversity pipeline. When our Firmwide Diversity Committee learned about Law Preview’s law school prep course, and that some of our own associates attended the class before starting law school, we saw an opportunity to make a substantial difference in the lives of entering law students by helping to prepare them for the challenges that lie ahead. We are excited to sponsor students to attend Law Preview because we know that achieving academic excellence during the first year of law school can dramatically change the trajectory of any legal career.
